Muneesh Kapur has been appointed as the new Executive Director of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), with effect as of October 3 (Tuesday).
Kapur served as the Monetary Policy Department’s adviser-in-charge and the Monetary Policy Committee’s secretary before being appointed to executive director.
In the Department of Economic Policy and Research and the Department of Monetary Policy at the Reserve Bank, Kapur has spent over three decades working in the fields of macroeconomic policy and research as well as monetary policy.
During the period of 2012 to 2015, he also worked as an advisor to the Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund.Kapur will oversee the Department of Economic and Policy Research in his capacity as executive director.
Muneesh Kapur is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB) and possesses a Master’s degree in Economics.
