The latest updates are pouring in, and the Russian army’s onslaught doesn’t seem to stop as they are plundering through the major cities of Ukraine. With a lot of devastation in terms of property and civilian lives. There is also the worrying condition of the Indians stuck in the war-torn country. With the airspace shut down, it is becoming more and more difficult to get them out of the country. The Indian government is putting in all efforts to get them back.

Operation Ganga is now on a mission to get back every Indian safely. The evacuation now has to be through neighboring countries wherein the Indians have to reach the borders in order to get into flights that will bring them back home. The past few weeks have been nightmarish for the students as they have hidden in bunkers with little or no food and water supplies.

    Indians stuck in Ukraine

The fear of venturing out as the shelling continues, as long queues in some of the stores for food supplies and ATMs with little cash has made life difficult for the Indians.

Reaching the Poland border through the problematic areas was tough. However, nearly 2000 Indians, mainly students, have crossed over, as reported by the Indian Envoy to Poland.

In a statement, the Ambassador of Poland to India said that they accept people of any nationality who are trying to escape Russian aggression. And already, four lakh people have entered its borders since the war-like situation began.

Hundreds of Indian students are yet to get in and are stuck at the Shehyni-Medka border, a checkpoint to enter Poland. An allegation of discrimination is said to be the reason by the Ukrainian and Polish border forces due to India’s stand at the UNSC. However, the Ambassador of Poland Burakowski has denied this, stating the logistical problems were the reason for the delay in helping the students. His justification was that the large number of people fleeing had caused crossing over to slow down.
