Sameer Wankhede the former Zonal Director of the Narcotics Control Bureau(NCB) gave an interview about the 2021 arrest of Aryan Khan the son of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan. Critics expressed serious concern and concern about Aryan’s arrest, along with six others, for an alleged drug case that was brought to national attention and heated across the country. Facing Trolls
When Aryan was arrested, Wankhede was more concerned with facing constant trolling on social media. However, he remains unfazed. For instance, in the interview, he stated “Trolling is just entertainment for me.” I’ve been through many more serious scandals in my profession, bullets, and terrorists. Such threatening messages are funny when compared to these. While criticizing Wankhede, some also applauded him for equal treatment to all under the law. To his critics, he had a simple response: “Try harder.”
The New Media Stand of Shah Rukh Khan
After the arrest of Aryan and when he secured bail, Shah Rukh Khan isolated himself from the media. He tends to depict bitterness over what has transpired to his son. When I asked Wankhede about this, he said, “I have no idea what he has been doing.” I don’t follow his actions.” Wankhede was also asked indirectly about this video that went viral in social media, in which Aryan and his friends were celebrating new year eve party recently. Not commenting on Aryan directly, Wankhede said, “Today’s generation equates new year day with getting drunk.” I i think you should enjoy your day but you are not allowed to harm it.”
Aryan Khan’s Arrest: The Legal Perspective
The arrest came into controversy as to why Aryan was arrested when it was reported that no drugs were found on him. As to this, Wankhede said, “It is required to note that it is a reflected picture of the society.” In drugs dealing business there is always a supplier and customer involved most of the time. If we arrest a person in this chain it doesn’t necessarily mean that they will always be caught with the drugs. But they are involved in the process.”
There were also reports that Aryan allegedly said, “Tu janta nahi mera baap kaun hai?” (“You don’t know who my father is?”) to Wankhede. Responding to this, Wankhede said, “I will not comment on this. It therefore goes back to the court that hears everything. I will not allow any man to talk to me in such regard, if they do so they will go to jail. He added, “ Such statements don’t work with me.”
Wankhedhe has been in the limelight after he arrested Aryan Khan.This year, a dialogue from the Shah Rukh Khan starred movie Jawan, released in 2023 came into focus which was. “Bete ko haath lagane se pehle, baap se baat kar” (Talk to the father before touching the son). Some even believed it was targeting Wankhede. Regarding this he stated, “So many people said it was about me, I am not sure though” If it’s about me, I’d take it as a compliment. But the dialogue itself is third-grade and not part of our Indian culture.”
