Nomadland is the big winner of the BAFTA Awards, which were presented on Sunday evening in London. The film won four awards, including Best Picture, Best Director ( Chloé Zhao ) and Best Actress ( Frances McDormand ).
There were quite a few winners this year compared to other years. Promising Young Woman won two awards (for best British film and best original screenplay), as did the British film Rocks , animated film Soul , The Sound of Metal , The Father and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom .
Sir Anthony
The biggest surprise of the evening is probably the win for Sir Anthony Hopkins (for his role in The Father ). A lot of people had put their money on Chadwick Boseman (for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom ).
