Shah Rukh Khan did something that rarely happens in the industry. It was the time when he won the best actor award for the film released in 1994. Here’s how he tricked.

Shah Rukh Khan has proved over the years that he is the Bollywood Badshah. Apart from being a successful actor he also has an intelligent and clever brain. One such moment was when during filmfare award that took place in 1993. He bagged the Best Actor award for the film that was not even released. keep reading to dig out what exactly happened.

    Shahrukh Khan

Shah Rukh became a star when he sang in a movie called Deewana, which came out in 1992. He won an award for being the best new actor in that movie. Right from the beginning, he always wanted to achieve more. He wanted love, more awards, and more chances to act in the film. In 1993, when he was just starting, he did something that most new actors wouldn’t dare to do. But now, people call him the king of Bollywood for a good reason. The actor knew how to plan and work hard to achieve his goals.

In 1993, just a year after gaining fame Khan won two Best Actor awards. He got the main award for his movie Baazigar and the Critics award for Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. The awards ceremony was on February 12, 1994. Now the interesting part is that he won the Best Film Critics Award on the same night for Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. But here’s the twist. Although the awards were for movies released in 1993, and the ceremony was on February 12, 1994, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa came out two weeks later, on February 25, 1994. Shah Rukh Khan himself said that it was his favorite film in a social media post shared by a fan club.

Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa faced financial issues

Let us tell you that the movie faced big issues and was hard to release as nobody wanted to buy it. However, Shah Rukh Khan knew how to handle and he appeared like a prince to rescue. Cleverly he submitted Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa for the Filmfare Awards, and the jury saw the film that had not even been released, something that rarely happens in the movie world. And guess what? The movie won the award, and Shah Rukh Khan won Best Actor. The director, Kundan Shah, explained in an interview how Shah Rukh Khan saved the movie. The filming of the movie was uncertain because of financial issues, but Shah Rukh Khan’s determination made every shot feel like a victory.

In an interview with Rediff, Kundan Shah shared a surprising fact. Reaving that Shah Rukh Khan bought the rights to his movie. Even though Shah Rukh Khan had moved on to other projects after the success of Darr and Baazigar, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa was ready before those films. However, Shah Rukh Khan decided to take care of the problems surrounding Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, showing his commitment to the project despite his busy schedule. He found a co-producer who said “Vijay Gilani and he (SRK) agreed to buy the film. So Vijay Gilani, Venus (Worldwide Entertainment), and Shah Rukh became joint producers and bought the Bombay territory. That’s how the film was released in Mumbai. And if you need a reminder of how amazing he was in the film, take a look at the scene showcasing one of his best performances.

Shahrukh Khan’s performance in Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa

By the time Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa came out, it had already won awards. Although it didn’t do very well in terms of money at first and took almost 10 years to make back its production cost. It was one of Shah Rukh Khan’s most cherished movies.
