To Kill a Tiger, which takes place in a little Indian town, received a nomination on Tuesday for the 2024 Academy Awards’ best documentary feature. Nisha Pahuja, a Toronto-based filmmaker who has been nominated for an Emmy, is the director of To Kill a Tiger. At the Toronto International Film Festival in 2022, it made its international premiere and took home the Amplify Voices Award for Best Canadian Feature Film.

The movie chronicles Ranjit’s difficult quest for justice on behalf of his 13-year-old daughter, who was kidnapped and then sexually abused by three men.
“Ranjit goes to the police, and the men are arrested. But Ranjit’s relief is short-lived, as the villagers and their leaders launch a sustained campaign to force the family to drop the charges. Four Daughters, The Eternal Memory, Bobi Wine: The People’s President, and 20 Days in Mariupol are the other four candidates for best Oscar for documentaries. The Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles will host the 96th Academy Awards on March 10.For the second year in a row, Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting the event. He will be working at the dais for the fourth time.
