Pakistan has once again faced embarrassment. Two of its diplomats have been caught stealing in South Korea. Both diplomats were stealing chocolate and hats from a shop, during which they were caught in CCTV camera. These incidents have taken place in Yongsan on different days. By the way, this is not the first time even before that Pakistan has had to face embarrassment due to ‘loved ones’ many times.

    Different day robbery

According to ‘Korea Times’ report, two Pakistan Embassy Employees have been caught stealing 11,000 Won (Korean currency) and 1,900 Won goods. One diplomat is accused of stealing chocolate worth 1,900 Von (about $ 1.70) on January 10, while another is accused of stealing a hat of 1,100 Von (about $ 10). The incident took place on 23 February.

    Diplomatic Immunity Saved

It has been told in the report that after the hat was stolen, the store’s employee had filed a case, after which investigation of the case started. When the police searched the CCTV footage of the store for investigation, both the accused were identified as Pakistan diplomats. Investigation is going on in case of chocolate theft. However, a case has not been registered against both the diplomats, as they have got Diplomatic Immunity.

What does the Vienna Convention say?

Actually according to the Vienna Convention, no diplomat and his family of any nation stationed in another country can be arrested. Not only this, they cannot be called for custody or even for questioning. Even though Pakistan diplomats have not been arrested, but after the issue came to light, it has definitely caused embarrassment in the international community. At the same time, no statement has been revealed by Pakistan on this whole matter so far.
