On Wednesday, the Union home ministry issued an investigation order about the security breech in the Lok Sabha. Anish Dayal Singh, director general of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), will lead the investigation.

“On request from Lok Sabha Secretariat, MHA has ordered an Enquiry of parliament security breach incident. An Enquiry Committee has been set up under Shri Anish Dayal Singh, DG, CRPF, with members from other security agencies and experts,” the MHA wrote on X.

“Enquiry Committee will investigate into the reasons for breach in security of Parliament, identify lapses and recommend further action. The Committee will submit its report with recommendations, including suggestions on improving security in Parliament, at the earliest,” the home ministry continued.

The parliament secretariat had written to the MHA requesting a security assessment and a high-level investigation into the incident that occurred on the 22nd anniversary of the parliament assaults, and the home ministry made its decision hours later.

During Zero Hour, two individuals by the names of Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D leaped from the visitors’ gallery into the Lok Sabha chamber while yelling protests. They used a canister to spew yellow gas, but the MPs eventually overwhelmed them.

Outside the parliament, a man and a woman by the names of Anmol Shinde and Neelam Azad were raising a slogan at the same moment. Later, all four were taken into custody.

Amit Shah, the Union home minister, was pressed by a number of opposition MPs for an explanation on the incident.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor stated, “These people did something which did not cause much damage but imagine if it had been more serious … It is a matter serious enough that the home minister himself may want to explain to the nation about the security lapses and security arrangements.”
