    Practice this breathing technique to keep flu and cold at bay in winters

    During winter people tend to fall ill due to sudden shift in the temperature, experts have too said that it is better to be cautious and take care of the body before it takes a toll a toll on the health. Pertaining to the seasonal flu and colds, Aditi Zawar, a yoga instructor, have shared some wellness tips and yoga asana which could help to prevent us from falling ill due to the weather changes. “It is getting extremely cold out there. If you are someone who is prone to infections like cold, cough, or other flu-related to the colder seasons, here is one prayanam that can help you warm your body,” she is found quoting in the video.

    She spoke about how “breath is medicine”, and later she demonstrated a breathing technique called as ‘suryabhedi pranayama‘, which instructs the person to inhale from the right nostril while holding up the other nostril with the finger and thereafter exhaling through the left nostril. This has to be done at least 8 to 10 times a day.

    Elucidating the its advantages she said, “The suryabhedi pranayama activates the sun element in our body and keeps it warm. . It helps improve your ability to fight flus and infections like cold, sinusitis, bronchitis, Covid, and other respiratory problems. It also purifies the blood and helps relieve symptoms of indigestion.”

    She further adds, “Since the practice aggravates the pitta disha, it stimulates the digestive fire and aids proper digestion. It further eliminates digestive worms and addresses diseases afflicting the digestion tract, like gas and bloating.”
