On Sunday, in honour of Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’s 140th birthday, the teaser for the Randeep Hooda-starring film was released.
The film also serves as Randeep’s directorial debut. Anand Pandit, the movie’s producer, recently disclosed that the actor lost 26 kgs in order to portray Hindutva ideologist Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. In addition to Randeep, the movie is produced by Anand Pandit, Sandeep Singh, Sam Khan, and Yogesh Rahar.
Producer Anand Pandit revealed in an interview that the actor lost not 18 but 26kg to be perfect for the role. “He was so involved in the character and till date is. To essay it on the screen, he said that he won’t leave any stone unturned. He had only 1 khajoor and 1 glass of milk for 4 months until the shooting got over.”
The producer also mentioned that Randeep shaved off all his hair to reach perfection. Pandit also averred that earlier Mahesh Manjerekar was going to direct the film however later he couldn’t due to some date related iasues. That was when the actor took the front and decided to direct the film.
The film will supposedly be out in September.
