Selena Gomez has always been open about her love for her family. It does not matter whether she is giving interviews, or making a public appearance she always claims that she is very close to most of her family members. However, life has presented her with a challenging event that she has to go through. During a recent interview, Selena revealed something painful. It was the fact she realized she could not give birth to a child naturally.
This came up for the first time when Selena Gomez discussed this in her interview with Vanity Fair published on September 9. The 32-year-old singer and actress was able to discuss individual anxieties and how she had always wanted to become a mother. However, due to this condition, she will not be able to carry her children. She stated that despite wishing to be a mother, she is unable to conceive because of “medical concerns.” Selena expressed her suffering by uttering “I cannot have my children regardless of how much I want it.”
In 2017, she went through a surgery that involved receiving a kidney transplant due to lupus, a disease that Selena has been struggling with for several years. This surgery, along with her health issues, has made a massive difference in her body. She said: “I’ve never told you this before but, you see, I cannot bear children for myself, I have a lot of severe diseases that would endanger both my life and the child whenever I got pregnant. That was something I had to cry over for a while.”
Surrogacy and adoption is an option for Selena Gomez
Accepting this new reality was not easy for Selena. It was difficult to bear, but finally, she embraced the situation and has been coping well with it. Forcing a smile, she said, “Well, it’s not exactly as I had expected it would be.”
However, at this time, Selena is pursuing other options for being a mother. She said, “I used to think it would happen like for anybody else but now I am in a much better place about it. I am fortunate that there are such wonderful people out there who are willing to help through surrogacy or adoption, both of which remain legitimate options for me. I’m glad these options exist for people who want to be moms. I’m one of those people and even though my path may be different, it will be mine.
Currently, Selena is in the happy stage of her life. She has been in a relationship with a music producer, Benny Blanco, since July 2023, and her show Only Murders in the Building has been given another season. While she has experienced some challenges on the way to becoming a mother, Selena still has positive impressions about it.
