The newest member joining the esteemed panel of judges at Shark Tank India is a renowned entrepreneur and film producer Ronnie Screwvala, the brain behind UpGrad and RSVP Movies, the streaming platform SonyLIV is thrilled to welcome Screwvala, Bollywood’s richest man with a reported net worth of Rs 12,800 crore ($1.55 billion). SonyLIV shared, “Shark Tank India 3 is set to make waves in the Indian startup scene and we’re delighted to have Ronnie Screwvala on board. As the Co-Founder and Chairperson of UpGrad, he brings a wealth of experience to the Sharks’ panel, adding to the show’s entrepreneurial spirit.”
About Ronnie Screwvala
Screwvala was initially a toothbrush manufacturer in the 70s. He ventured into the entertainment world by establishing a cable TV business in 1981. With an investment of just Rs 37,000. After that in 1990 he he founded UTV evolving into a major television and film production powerhouse. The UTV productions include Swades, Jodhaa Akbar, and Chennai Express. In 2012, Screwvala sold his share of UTV to Disney for over a billion dollars. He later founded RSVP Movies, known for films like Uri and Kedarnath. His achievements include a National Award for Rang De Basanti and three Filmfare Awards. Screwvala beyond the film industry, is the force behind UpGrad, a $2.25 billion company founded in 2015. Teaming up with three IIT graduates, he created an online education platform offering degrees in Data Analytics, Digital Marketing, and more.
