The 2023 International Emmy Awards have nominated Shefali Shah, Jim Sarbh, and comedian Vir Das in various categories. The nomination list, which includes 56 candidates from 20 nations and 14 categories, was announced on Tuesday night.

For his part in the SonyLIV online series Rocket Boys, Sarbh has been nominated in the Best Performance by an Actor category.The other contenders in this category are Jonas Karlsson of Sweden, Martin Freeman of the UK, and Gustavo Bassani of Argentina.

Shah’s performance in Delhi Crime Season 2 on Netflix has earned her a nomination in the Best Performance by an Actress category.She is up against Connie Nielsen of Denmark, Billie Piper of the UK, and Karla Souza of Mexico in this category.

Famous actor and comedian Vir Das is also up for an award for his Netflix comedy special, Vir Das: Landing. He is nominated alongside Le Flambeau from France, El Encargado from Argentina, and Derry Girls Season 3 from the UK.

In response to receiving a nomination for his role as scientist Homi Bhabha in the series, a delighted Sarbh commented, “I am overwhelmed and excited to be nominated under the Best Actor category at the International Emmy Awards for my portrayal of Dr. Homi Bhabha in Rocket Boys. It is an honor to be recognized amongst such talented individuals from across the world. This nomination is a testament to the hard-working, dedicated, and extremely talented cast and crew, who brought the incredible story of Dr. Sarabhai and Dr. Bhabha to life. I loved working on Rocket Boys, a project that salutes India’s scientists, artists, and leaders, the pioneers of a newly birthed nation.”

Shefali Shah expressed her joy at receiving a Best Actress nomination on Instagram. She penned, “OMGGGGG I still can’t believe it. Feel so so honoured to be nominated at the International Emmys alongside such esteemed artists. This one is really special and more so because it is for a character I am very very close to, Vartika Chaturvedi and for my favourite show #DelhiCrime2. This is for all of us in #DelhiCrime.”

At the 2020 International Emmy Awards, Delhi Crime Season 1 took home the Best Drama trophy.
Meanwhile, Vir Das wrote, “WHAT!!!!!! I got nominated for an Emmy award for best comedy my second iEmmy nomination. To everyone who worked on this show Vir Das Landing, I am SO proud of you, and so grateful to @netflix_in for letting me tell my story. In addition to the three nominations, Ektaa Kapoor, who will receive the coveted International Emmy Directorate Award at the 51st International Emmy Awards Gala, will represent India at the ceremony. The ceremony is slated to take place in New York City on November 20, 2023.
