Union home minister Amit Shah will meet the family of Punjabi rapper Sidhu Moose Wala, whose murder last week sent shockwaves all over the nation.

He will meet the family at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters in Chandigarh. The minister visited the city to inaugurate Khelo India Games. He will likewise scheduled to a meeting of the Punjab BJP pioneers and address them.

Moose Wala – – whose actual name is Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu – – was shot dead in his car by unknown attackers in the northern state of Punjab on May 29. The Police said murder was connected to inter-gang rivalry.

The 28-year-old vocalist rose to fame with his rap songs that frequently targeted his opponent rappers and politicians, while describing him as a man who always fights for his community’s pride. Other than India, Moose Wala also had a huge following abroad, particularly in Canada and Britain — home to large Punjab-origin communities.
