Ireland announces its squad against the New Zealand for the upcoming ODI series. Sensational young batsman Doheny has been called up for the ODIs after getting a fortunate call in the T20I series against the crucial team of India.
Andrew White, Chair of National Men’s Selectors stated that it would be a tough challenge to take on New Zealand as they are the number one ODI team for a reason whereas Ireland does not even apply close to the top rankings.
“Taking on the world’s number one ODI side will always be a challenge, but with 30 World Cup Super League points on the line, this series becomes even more significant,” Andrew White, Chair of National Men’s Selectors, said. “One-day cricket is the format we have performed most consistently in over the last few years, and despite the age profile of many in the squad being young, they have gained some important experience in recent times in finding ways of winning against top sides.
Ireland believes that they have been doing consistently well in the ODI format and it will be a great opportunity for them to leave a message if they show any impact in the upcoming series.
Ireland are also set to play against India in the two-match T20I series and the squads for both Kiwis and India series has been announced.
