Tamim Iqbal retires from T20Is

On Saturday, Tamim Iqbal, the starting centre for Bangladesh against the West Indies, announced his retirement from T20 Internationals (July 16).

After Bangladesh easily defeated the West Indies in the three-match ODI series in Guyana, Tamim, the Bangladesh ODI captain, announced his retirement from international T20 cricket via a status update on his official Facebook page.

“Please consider me retired from T20Is from today. Thank you everyone,” Tamim wrote in Bangla.

On January 27, Tamim announced a six-month absence from T20 Internationals, while he still participated in a domestic T20 tournament.

Tamim participated in 78 T20Is and amassed 1758 runs—including one century and seven fifty-sevens—at an average of 24.08 and a strike rate of 117.2.
