Just before her most recent engagement in Brazil, Taylor Swift received word of a fan’s death and conveyed her deep sorrow. The singer sent a touching message on her Instagram Stories, expressing her deep sadness at the tragic news.
People magazine announced the death of 16-year-old Ally Garner Anderson, who fought cancer and received a gift from Swift at her Eras Tour stop in Cincinnati this summer, even though the fan’s identity was not disclosed in Taylor’s article.
The identity of the deceased fan was confirmed to be Ana Clara Benevides by stories that arose in contrast, quoting Folha and Estela Benevides, Ana Clara’s cousin. After allegedly passing out during the performance, Ana was taken to the Salgado Filho Municipal Hospital by ambulance. Ana experienced a second heart arrest in spite of attempts at resuscitation both at the stadium and on the way to the hospital.
With temperatures reaching as high as 60ºC, the sad tragedy happened in the middle of extreme heat, which led to several people passing out during the concert. Swift addressed the crowd’s need for water and made sure the right help was provided after she earlier called off her Rio de Janeiro performance due to the extreme heat.

I can’t believe I’m writing these words but it is with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show. I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by this. There’s very little information I have other than the fact that she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young. I’m not going to be able to speak about this from the stage because I feel overwhelmed by grief when I even try to talk about it. I want to saw now that I feel this loss deeply and my broken heart goes out to her family and friends. This is the last thing I ever thought would happen when we decided to bring this tour to Brazil.
