Train traffic in Ayodhya will be disrupted from January 16 to January 22 as a result of track doubling and electrification work being done in advance of the Ram Temple’s consecration event. Thirty-five trains, including the Doon Express, will operate on alternative routes while ten trains, including the Vande Bharat Express, have been cancelled.

According to Rekha Sharma, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Northern Railway, Lucknow Division, the Vande Bharat Express from Ayodhya Cantt to Anand Vihar was already postponed until January 15 in order to complete track maintenance.

The cancellation has been extended till January 22.

Union Minister of State Darshana Jardosh posted a list of trains traveling to Ayodhya’s temple town on X, along with the updated timetables for each city. “Indian Railways will take you to the faith of Ayodhya… In view of the increasing demand of Ram devotees, some changes have been made in the trains going to Ayodhya,” Jardosh wrote on X.

The trains from Valsad, starting services from Indore, and Udhna in Gujarat were among the ones rescheduled.

January 22 will mark the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. PM Modi will serve as the event’s host. Celebrities, businesspeople, and notable cricket players will all be present at the event. A seven-day program of ceremonies has been planned by the temple trust to take place before the “pran pratishtha” event. Beginning on January 16, the ‘Dashvidh’ bath rite will be performed on the banks of the Saryu River by a priest designated by the Temple Trust.
