In a popular Indian Idol broadcast Udit Narayan can be seen kissing Alka Yagnik gently on the cheek. Her expression showed complete shock and she appeared perplexed by the unexpected moment. The footage from a different occasion captures Alka showing signs of distress as Udit approaches to kiss her again even though she did not anticipate it. Additionally, a video shows Udit Narayan at an award ceremony where Shreya Ghoshal was being honored with Best Female Singer. Udit Narayan greeted her just before she accepted her Best Female Singer award from Malaika Arora by providing her with a cheek-to-cheek embrace which evolved into a passionate kiss. Although Shreya looked quite uncomfortable. She maintained her composure to receive her Best Female Singer award impressively.

During the interaction with his female fan for a selfie the woman attempted to get close enough for a cheek kiss. However, Udit tilted his head, leading to an unexpected kiss on the lips. A video revealed another instance where Udit Narayan encountered a hugging fan but his head motion led to the strange lip encounter.
After the news went viral, it led Udit Narayan to speak with Hindustan Times on the matter. The singer said that the video incident was a pure display of fan devotion which he considered to be a sign of affection from his supporters. He characterized the entire incident as “deewangi” which means both madness and devotion that existed among his supporters. He also mentioned that some people actually encourage such gestures and insist that he is a “decent” man.
Despite his response, the internet remains divided. While some fans are supporting the legendary singer, others feel that such behavior is inappropriate, especially in professional settings. Although Udit kept his views but the resurfacing of old videos has only fueled the debate, leaving people questioning whether such moments should be brushed off as fan interactions or seen as a matter of concern.
