The trailer of the Tamil-Telegu bilingual film Vaathi starring Dhanush has been released by the makers on Wednesday. As per the visuals, the film revolves around a man who is fighting against the system which keeps the agenda to privatize education.
The film stars Dhanush in the pivotal role of a Maths teacher. Helmed by Venky Atluri, the film has been simultaneously filmed in Telugu and Tamil. In Telegu it has been titled as SIR. Both the versions of the movie will hit the theaters worldwide on February 17.
In the initial frame of the film, it kick off with Samuthirakani’s character speaking about the education system and why it should be a nonprofitable entity in India. He claims the ideas that the government school must be turned into private schools.
Samuthirakani is in the garb of the chairman of is one of the key and successful educational institutions in the country.
Talking about the film, Venky Atluri recently said in a press interaction that some incidents from his life when he was a student inspired him to make Vaathi.
Taking about the film in a recent press release, Venky Atluri recalled some anecdotes when he was a student which helped and inspired him to work towards Vaathi’s story, “I finished my class in 12th around 1998. That’s when the private schools were really flourishing and were slowly taking over the government schools. It had become a big issue back then and even got the government involved to sort this issue. Some of these events inspired me to make Vaathi,” Venky added.
He further added that the movie which goes back to the 1990s, will throw light on the privatisation of the education system and how a one-man army fought against it. The film will etch Dhanush’s debut in the Telugu industry.
