On May 1, Alia Bhatt makes her Met Gala debut wearing a Prabal Gurung gown with white pearl embellishment. The designer strolled the red carpet alongside the actor as both were dressed in white. The celebrities Katrina Kaif and Kareena Kapoor, as well as Alia’s sister Shaheen Bhatt, mother Soni Razdan, mother-in-law Neetu Kapoor, and other family and friends back home, praised Alia for her white bridal outfit. Vivek Agnihotri, a filmmaker, also congratulated Alia for her acting debut, and the star responded with a thank-you note on Instagram Stories.
On his Instagram Stories, Vivek Agnihotri shared Alia’s Instagram post regarding her Prabal Gurung outfit and commented, “Gorgeous. Graceful. @aliabhatt, wow. Moreover, he included some red heart emojis. Alia posted on her Instagram Stories and wrote, “Thank you sir (white heart emoji)”.
Alia had earlier shared a message on Instagram outlining the sources of inspiration for her white dress. She revealed, “I have always been fascinated by the iconic Chanel brides. Season after season, the genius of Karl Lagerfeld shone through in the most innovative and awe-inspiring couture. My look tonight was inspired from this and in particular by supermodel Claudia Schiffer’s 1992 Chanel bridal look. I wanted to do something that felt authentic (hello, pearls!) and proudly made in India. The embroidery, made with a 100,000 pearls is a labour of love by @prabalgurung. I’m so proud to wear you for my first Met.”
Later that day, she also posted pictures from a photoshoot that highlighted the dress’s embellishments and featured her wearing accessories that matched them. Karan Johar said “Stunning baby!!!!! (red heart emojis).” While Zoya Akhtar added a red heart emoji and a smiling face. Prabal wrote, “(red heart emojis) love you tons and miss you already !!!”
Last week, Alia received the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her work in Gangubai Kathiawadi. The Kashmir Files, a movie starring Vivek, was also nominated for seven Filmfare Awards. In an act of defiance against what he perceived to be the Bollywood establishment, the director chose not to accept the nominations.
The actor’s upcoming film appearance is in Karan’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani. She also makes her Hollywood debut in the August Netflix release Heart of Stone, which stars Gal Gadot.
