President Vladimir Putin stated on Thursday that Russia’s goal was to build a “new world” and attributed Moscow’s relentless onslaught in Ukraine to Western hegemony.
Putin has characterised Russia’s extensive military participation in Ukraine, which began in February 2022, as a component of a protracted conflict with the West.
“We are tasked, essentially, with building a new world,” Putin averred.
“The West always needs an enemy,” he added.
According to Putin, the struggle in Ukraine is “not a territorial” one, and Moscow “has no interests from the point of view of conquering some territories.”
Large portions of southern and eastern Ukraine are under Russian military control, and Putin has legally annexed Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, and Lugansk. Putin has frequently claimed that Ukrainian land was traditionally part of Russia and cast doubt on the existence of the Ukrainian state.
Additionally, in 2014, Putin oversaw the annexation of the Crimean peninsula from Ukraine. The crisis, which is now in its twentieth month, is being blamed on Western nations by the longstanding leader, who turns 71 this week.
“The war, which was started by the Kyiv regime with active support from the West, has been going on already for 10 years,” he mentioned.
“The special military operation was launched to stop it,” he cleared while referring to Moscow’s offensive take.
