The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh is under the bit of rage and thereby called off the press meet on Friday and posted his MLA son Pratik Bhushan Singh to speak on his behalf.

Pratik told that Singh will address the media on January 22 after the Annual General Meet of WFI. He further added that the federation has given an official statement, to the Sports Ministry, as was demanded.

“We are not formally authorised to speak anything on this issue. He (Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh) will address the media on January 22 at the Annual General Meet of WFI. We have given our official statement to the Sports Ministry,” he said.

Earlier in the day, Brij Bhushan identified that the process has identified the wrestlers’ protest as “dharna of Shaheen Bagh” and added that he would not quit. “The protest by wrestlers against me is the dharna of Shaheen Bagh,” Singh said.

Ace Indian wrestlers, including Olympic medallist Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia, world championship medallist Vinesh Phogat have been at the forefront in leading the protest at Jantar Mantar which is active since January 18 against Brij Bhushan and other coaches of the association for sexually harassing and intimidating women players.

On Thursday, the players were visited by Anurag Thakur however the talks remained inconclusive. The agitation also reached the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), seeking for an enquiry committee to be set up for the investigation against Singh.
