Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer has been getting a lot of attention in India since its premiere. The director considers the movie to be one of the best, and it is drawing audiences back into theatres. In the midst of all the commotion, an old interview with Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has reappeared online, in which he praises Christopher Nolan’s 2010 masterpiece Inception and discusses why Hollywood is far superior to the Hindi film industry.

In conversation with Rajeev Masand, Aamir said, “First of all, I would like to say Hollywood is far ahead of the rest of the world, indeed India, in its ability to tell stories well. And in its freedom to pick topics that are bizarre sometimes, unimaginable topics is what they pick up. Dream within a dream, within a dream. How to convey that and connect with people and make them believe that this is happening? So this fantasy of larger-than-life storytelling is something that Hollywood does it really well. Technically, even in their headspace, they’re far ahead of us. They’re able to do things that they imagine. We’re not able to imagine only”.

Aamir Khan last appeared in a professional capacity with Kareena Kapoor in the 2022 movie Laal Singh Chaddha. The movie was a replica of the popular Forrest Gump movie from Hollywood. Although the movie was eagerly awaited, its box office performance was poor, and critics gave it a mixed bag of reviews.
