Even though “King of Pop” Michael Jackson passed away more than 14 years ago, his lasting impact on the art world is still felt today.
In 1996, Michael Jackson made a special visit in Mumbai as part of his “History World Tour” to the admiration and anticipation of millions of fans throughout the world.
Anupam Kher, a Bollywood actor, recently recalled a touching experience he had with the international celebrity at that time. He shared a special snapshot of himself with MJ and wrote a kind caption.
Kher described MJ’s performance in Mumbai as “magical,” adding that the next day, 25 specially selected guests had the chance to speak with the King of Pop for 30 minutes in the terrace gardens of the Hotel Oberoi. “I was over the moon at the mere thought of meeting one of the greatest performers of our times at such close quarters,” he shared.

Kher described how all of the selected guests gathered at the hotel no less than an hour before the meeting time. He recounted, “There was a small platform erected as a kind of temporary stage. We were waiting- breathlessly. He finally arrived surrounded by his personal bodyguards. Tall & Tough!”
Kher stated that they were awestruck and left speechless at witnessing the celebrity, and while Michael Jackson kindly smiled at them, they were forced to uncomfortably look back. He assumed, “I thought this was a historical moment in my life. I can’t just stand there. I must at least shake his hands if not hug him.”

Kher remembered how he took the initiative to move the barrier and enter the stage after noticing that there was a barrier between them from MJ. “Realising that I had invaded the stage unannounced and not knowing who I was Michael’s bodyguards were about to pounce on me and throw me away,” he added.
Fortunately, Kher’s good fortune continued when Bharat Shah, the show’s promoter, screamed in anticipation: “Don’t!!! He is the BIGGEST SUPERHERO OF THE COUNTRY,” post which MJ’s guards stopped.

“#MJ held my hand softly. Acknowledged me respectfully,” Kher said.
“At exact that moment somebody clicked the pic. And history got created. For ME! All other guests just stood there. FROZEN!! 😬❤️😍🙌 #KuchBhiHoSaktaHai,” he further added.
