The local media said that after being arrested and committing the crime, Sanjoy Roy openly told the police to hang him if they wanted.

A trainee doctor ‘Abhayas’ horrific rape and murder at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has shocked the entire nation. But now the accused in the Kolkata Horror, Sanjoy Roy has been arrested by the police and police custody. And will remain till August 23, 2024. But the noticeable thing is that. The trainee doctor’s body was found in a semi-naked condition in the seminar hall of the medical college. After committing the crime he washed his clothes to destroy the evidence. But left his Bluetooth headset behind, which was also paired with his phone this played a vital role for the police and he eventually got arrested.
The reports reveal that Sanjay Roy was not from the hospital but had gained free access to the facility. He worked as a civic volunteer with the Kolkata Police. And was recruited on a contractual basis to assist the police with tasks, such as traffic management and disaster response in return they get a salary of Rs 12,000.
Justice for Abhaya’: Heinous Crime Sparks Nationwide Protest
After this chilling murder doctors and non-medicos have raised their voices against the incident. They have also questioned women’s security at their workplace. The medical students have called for nationwide protests and doctors have halted medical services in Maharashtra, Delhi, Thiruvananthapuram, and Kolkata. The principal of RG Kar Medical College, Sandip Ghosh, has also resigned from his post.
The autopsy reports of the victim reveal some truly horrifying details about what happened to her before she was raped and murdered. Her neck was broken, and there were many injuries all over her body, including her private parts. She was bleeding from different areas, and her injuries were severe. The report highlighted injuries on her belly, lips, fingers, and left leg. It was also discovered that her nose and mouth had been covered, and her head was forced against a wall to stop her from screaming.
The postmortem report further explained that the victim’s mouth and throat were strangled to suffocate. So that she could not make any noise. The thyroid cartilage broke due to strangling. The report also noted that the woman was bleeding from her eyes, mouth, and private parts. However, it’s still unclear what caused the injury to her eyes. The body of the post-graduate trainee was found in the hospital’s seminar room of the West Bengal government-run hospital on Friday morning.
In response to this terrible crime, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee warned the Kolkata police. Stating that the investigation would be transferred to the CBI if the police could not crack the case by Sunday.
