Why Shivam Dube is The ‘Next Big Thing’ in IPL 2019?

Some things in life happen at such perfect timing that even circumstances bend their knees down. This is what happened with Mumbai all-rounder cricketer Shivam Dube on Tuesday during the IPL Auction 2019 in Jaipur.

The player had been in the buzz for past few days but nobody knew that he will fetch such a whopping and huge amount during the auction. The 25-year-old southpaw was on Tuesday grabbed by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru for whopping Rs 5 crore, 25 times of his base price i.e Rs 20 lakh.

Shivam plays for Mumbai’s domestic team. He is a left-handed batsman and right-handed fast bowler. He only played 6 first-class cricket matches. With the average of 63.00, he had made 567 runs including two centuries and 4 half-centuries. He also took 22 wickets.

The talk of the town is, how he sold at Rs 5 crore instead of Rs 20 lakh suddenly?

His price soared to Rs 5 crore in just one day. Till Sunday all the franchises decided to buy Shivam at a calculative base price of Rs 20 lakh. But on Monday, all the calculations took a reverse turn and it happened due to the Ranji Trophy match played between Mumbai and Vadodara. Shivam made 76 runs on 60 balls while being not out. He scored 7 sixes in the match.

Here is all you need to know about this promising player:

“One player who will definitely be on the radar of the scouts of the franchises, as well as the national selectors, is Shivam Dubey. Not since Yuvraj Singh and Sourav Ganguly has a left-hander hit the ball so cleanly and powerfully in Indian cricket.”
