Often when we call someone, we must check whether the number is more or less than 10 digits? Not only this, if by mistake you dial 9 or 11 digit number, then the phone does not ring. In such a situation, do you know why the mobile number is only 10 digits and what is the reason behind it? If you do not know, then today we will tell you the reason behind this…

NNP is the reason, know how?

Let us tell you that the government’s National Numbering Scheme i.e. NNP is behind the 10-digit mobile number in India. It may be noted that if the mobile number is of one digit, then only 10 different numbers can be made from 0 to 9. After which only a total of 10 numbers will be made and only 10 people will be able to use them. On the other hand, even if there is a 2 digit mobile number, only 100 numbers from 0 to 99 can be made and only 100 people will be able to use them.

The population of the country also has an important contribution in having a 10 digit mobile number

At the same time, another reason for this is the population of the country. Yes, at present the population of the country is more than 131 crores. If the mobile number of even number nine was used, then in future the number could not be allotted to all the people. At the same time, when a 10-digit mobile number is created, then according to the calculation, one thousand crore different numbers can be created. This is the reason that in view of the increasing demand for numbers in the future, the 10 digit mobile number was changed.

Earlier there were 9 digits mobile numbers

At the same time, it should be noted that till the year 2003, there were only 9 digit mobile numbers in the country. But in view of the increasing population, TRAI increased it to 10 points. Apart from this, from January 15, 2021, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has instructed to put zero in front of the number when calling from landline. In such a situation, this change in the method of dialing will allow telecom companies to create 2544 million additional numbers for mobile services.

Will the mobile number be of 11 digits in the coming time?

Lastly, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has said that it has not suggested any 11 digit mobile number. TRAI clarified that it has only recommended that zero should be put against the mobile number while calling from landline.
