Mushaal Hussain Malik, the wife of jailed separatist leader and head of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Yasin Malik, allegedly serves in Pakistan’s 18-member caretaker cabinet, which began office on Thursday. In a terror funding case last year, a trial judge gave Yasin Malik a life sentence.

According to rumours, Mushaal would support Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the interim prime minister of Pakistan, in his role as “special assistant” for human rights. She won’t hold a full minister position in his cabinet since she is not a Pakistani citizen, according to Pakistani website Aaj.

A Kashmiri politician named Mushaal wed Yasin Malik in February 2009. The two allegedly became acquainted in 2005 while Malik was on tour in Pakistan.

Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the caretaker prime minister of Pakistan, named an 18-person cabinet to govern the impoverished nation up to the general elections and guarantee a smooth transfer of power. The interim cabinet received an oath from Pakistani President Arif Alvi.

In the meantime, Gohar Ijaz, an industrialist, was sworn in as minister of industries, Khalil George, a professor, was sworn in as minister of minorities, Ahmad Irfan Aslam, minister of law, Jamal Shah, a well-known actor, was sworn in as minister of culture, and Aniq Ahmad, minister of religious affairs.

Shehbaz Sharif’s term in office came to an end on August 9 when Pakistan’s national legislature was dissolved. According to estimates, the country’s general elections should take place within 90 days.
