When Zack Snyder took on Justice League , he already had a plan in his head for three films ahead. Of course, Warner Bros. in advance was not enthusiastic about his ideas and many of them dismissed at once.
Warner Bros. didn’t want me to hint that there would be more films. They wanted me to be as complete as possible. And I’m like, “But it doesn’t fit the genre. It is unusual for comics to end a story regardless of whether we see the sequel or not. “
In Justice League 2, as we already know, Darkseid must come to Earth, and Superman instructs Batman to guard Lois Lane:
Lex tells Darkseid that the key to Superman’s weakness is the murder of Lois Lane. For some reason, Batman hesitates, argues with Lois and fails, and Darkseid kills her.
In short, Bruce blundered. He is tormented by guilt, and Superman loses all will to fight. Darkseid exploits this moment of weakness and takes control of Kal-El, which ultimately leads to the death of Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and others. This is how the sequel was supposed to end – in a word, depressing.
But, of course, the third part could and should have replayed everything:
In a post-apocalyptic future, Cyborg uses his mother cubes to help Flash travel back in time and warn Batman of the moment when he won’t have the courage to sacrifice himself and save Lois.
And when the time comes again, Bruce makes the right choice – Lois survives, and that changes everything. The good guys, of course, win.
But that is not all. Snyder had a surprise prepared for the audience regarding the successor to the Dark Knight, Gotham. They would be – drum roll – the son of Superman and Lois, to whom the superpowers of his father were not transferred:
20 years later, on the anniversary of Batman’s death, they take young Bruce Kent to the Batcave and say that he must continue the crusade of their fallen friend: “Uncle Bruce would be proud of you if you dared to do this.”
And with a high degree of probability we will never see all this splendor. And, as usual, you need to thank the Warners.
